Aga Khan Foundation Job Advert

AKF is seeking dynamic and qualified individuals for enumerator positions to support in data collection for pre-piloting and piloting an Early Learning Assessment tool in Kampala and Arua. Timeframe: March -April 2023. The pre-pilot and pilot will involve the collection of data based on a series of exercises with children (aged between 5 and 6 years old) focusing on relationship building, culture and arts, creativity, literacy, and numeracy domains.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Attend the ID ELA administration training and pass the inter reliability test, to be selected for data collection.
  • Arrive at the training venue on time and attend all sessions
  • Correctly and efficiently administer the ID ELA tool, including knowing and following all administration rules
  • Accurately identify and record pupils’ responses as correct and incorrect using digital devices (tablet)
  • Collect data using child-friendly methodologies and approaches with sampled girls and boys in select Pre-primary schools.
  • Organize the assessment materials, ensure their security, and submit the materials at the end of field work.
  • Provide feedback on the tools and their use.
  • Take wonderful care of the data collection tablet and other assets that may be provided during this engagement, and return the same at the end of the assignment
  • Code the assessment results and enter data for the supported schools into the database.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant should at least hold a diploma in Early Childhood Development
  • Substantial experience as a caregiver
  • Experience in administering learning assessments at classroom level
  • Willingness to learn and explore new experiences
  • Demonstrate ability to fluently read and speak one of the relevant local languages -Luganda or Lugbarati, which are required for ID ELA administration.
  • Demonstrate evidence of an understanding of and commitment to child protection and safeguarding, as well as other vulnerable populations.
  • Friendly personality in working with young children
  • Must be aware of and sensitive to the cultural expectations of communities in Kampala and Arua.
  • Must be able to record responses appropriately and correctly without distorting the original data
  • Must be able to work for full day working hours in the field across a number of day
  • Teachers from schools involved in the Schools2030 project will not be considered.
