The Regional Maritime University, RMU School of Graduate Studies has released the Postgraduate Admission Requirement for prospective applicants and the public.

RMU Postgraduate Admission Requirement

The General entry requirements for Postgraduate programmes are detailed below.

A. M.Sc. ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING
B. M.Sc. BIOPROCESS ENGINEERING
C. M.Sc. RENEWABLE ENERGY ENGINEERING
D. M.Sc. SUBSEA OPERATIONS & MAINTENANCE ENGINEERING
E. M.Sc. INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING AND LOGISTICS (WEEKEND OPTION)
F. M.A. PORT AND SHIPPING ADMINISTRATION (REGULAR AND WEEKEND OPTIONS)

Admission Requirement for programmes A-C

A good first degree in Engineering with at least a Second-Class Lower Division from a recognized University for programmes (A-C)

Applicants with B.Sc. in the Physical Sciences will be considered if they have, at least, one (1) year of relevant industry experience.

Applicants with Third class in related fields, with at least two years (2) industry experience may be considered. Such applicants will be subject to an interview and/or entrance examination.

Applicants must submit the following with applications;

  • Detailed Curriculum Vitae
  • Certified copies of transcripts and certificates
  • Personal statement of not more than 500 words (1½ pages) detailing your motivation for wanting to study the Course and what you believe you will gain from it.

Admission Requirement for Programme D

A Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Marine / Mechanical /Civil /Naval /Offshore/Electrical/ Electronics/ Petroleum/ Petrochemical / Chemical Engineering from a recognized University with a second-class lower division may apply.

Applicants with Bachelor’s degrees (or equivalent) in related fields with relevant offshore oil and gas experiences will also be considered on a case-by-case basis. Applicants with slightly lower qualifications may be considered if they can demonstrate they have at least 5 years of relevant professional experience.

International applicants are also required to provide proof of proficiency in English.

Admission Requirement for Programmes E-F

A good First Degree with at least a Minimum of 2nd Lower Division in any of the following:

Social Sciences; Business Administration; Maritime Discipline and other related Disciplines from a recognized University.

or

The highest-grade Certificate of Competency for unrestricted service as Master Mariner or Chief Engineer in the Merchant Navy.

Applicants must submit the following with applications:

  • Detailed Curriculum Vitae
  • A personal statement of not more than 500 words
  • Three (3) referee’s reports.
